    Louisa County Parks, Recreation & Tourism (LCPRT) is bringing RESTAURANT WEEK back in 2019 Join Louisa County Parks and Recreation and Visit Louisa Events Page for their annual Restaurant Week that will feature a variety of Louisa County’s signature lunch and dinner specials at discounted/affordable prices! This is a great opportunity for both residents and visitors to check-out the diverse selection of restaurants in Louisa County, and for local restaurants to showcase some of their best dishes! NEW THIS YEAR: For every meal that is purchased between March 1st and 10th from a Restaurant Week menu, $1 will be donated to the Louisa County Resource Council.   2. Soil and Seeding Intensive at Forrest Green Farm

    March 9, 2019, 12:00 PM - 5:00 PM @ Forrest Green Farm

    This class will teach you the basics of growing your own herb and vegetable plants by seed starting. You will take home a sown flat of your choice of herbs and/or vegetable seeds to tend to in your setting. This is a very hands-on class and you will get a chance to make & formulate various potting soils and have guided practice sowing seeds. -Making, mixing and understanding soil science and organic/natural amendments - remember that soil is the basis of all good gardening and plant health -The basics of growing from seed, including plant container choices, light needs and grow lights, climate, temperatures, tips & techniques for seeds that require special treatments (stratification, scarification, light dependent germinators) -Education about how to choose the best seed companies for herb, vegetable and flower seeds. Will also discuss local seed libraries and seed saver exchanges. -Growing the seedling out to transplant size and hardening off -Seed storage and seed saving
