NOTICE OF PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD - REGIONAL NATURAL HAZARD MITIGATION PLAN 30-DAY COMMENT PERIOD: June 1 – June 30, 2022
The Thomas Jefferson Planning District Commission (TJPDC) works with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the Virginia Department of Emergency Management (VDEM), and local emergency managers to develop and maintain a Regional Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP). The HMP identifies goals, objectives and specific actions to help our communities prepare for natural disasters before they occur, in order to reduce loss of life and property damage. The plan is updated every 5-years. The hazard mitigation planning process is guided by the Hazard Mitigation Working Group, which consists of representatives from each locality in the planning district (including Louisa) and other state and community stakeholders.
The TJPDC invites all interested citizens to comment on the Draft Regional Natural HMP. The draft plan is available on the TJPDC Hazard Mitigation Page (https://tjpdc.org/our-work/hazard-mitigation/) or by contacting Ian Baxter at ibaxter@tjpdc.org or (434) 422-4082. Comments are accepted until June 30, 2022. Submit your comments to ibaxter@tjpdc.org.
