The Internship Program offers an excellent opportunity for students to learn about the workplace in general while being a part of their local government. Internship opportunities for the 2019 Program will be available in the following Departments: Community Development, Animal Shelter, Parks and Recreation, Fire and EMS, Louisa County Water Authority, and Extension/4H. The duration of the program is six weeks, beginning on Monday, June 10, 2019 and ending on Friday, July 19, 2019. Those interns selected for the Parks and Recreation positions may be asked to attend a training session prior to the actual start of the program. The interns will earn $7.25 per hour and will work 40 hours per week. An orientation will be held on Friday, June 7, 2019 at 9:00 am.
We are seeking Louisa County students who have a commitment to excellence through demonstrated customer service, communication and organizational skills. To be considered for the Summer Internship Program, Louisa County students should be between 16 – 18 years of age, be available to work between the hours of 8:30 am – 5:00 pm (may vary by department) and provide their own transportation. Participants will be required to write an essay at the end of the program addressed to the Louisa County Board of Supervisors and the County Administrator outlining the highlights of their internships, including key accomplishments. This essay will be due Friday July 12, 2019. Also, as part of the Program, the interns must be available to attend the Board of Supervisors meeting on Monday August 5, 2019, at 6:00 p.m.
Louisa County Human Resources and department representatives will be hosting two Summer Intern Job Fairs, the first to be held at Louisa County High School, on Wednesday, May 1, 2019, from 1:00-3:30pm, to speak with prospective applicants. Job descriptions for the internships will be available at the Job Fair to help students match their interests. Interested students should have their completed applications to Louisa County Human Resources Department by the close of business on Wednesday, May 22, 2019, and decisions will be made by May 24, 2019, with students being notified by May 31, 2019.
