Louisa Animal Shelter Receives Petco Foundation Grant

The County of Louisa is pleased to announce that the Louisa County Animal Shelter has recently been awarded a third grant by the Petco Foundation to support the shelter’s outreach initiatives in the community and increase the organization’s efforts and lifesaving capability.

The grant is in the amount of $25,000. The funds from the grant will be used for animal care, adoption preparation, and adoption promotion.

“We are extremely grateful to have our work recognized and supported by the Petco Foundation,” said Board of Supervisors Chairman, Toni Williams. “Our capable staff and volunteers are dedicated to providing superb animal care, and these funds will further those efforts.”

The grant will help the Louisa County Animal Shelter continue to improve services offered to the community. It is the goal of the Louisa County Animal Shelter to educate and inform the community on responsible pet ownership, provide a safe environment for all animals in its care, and prepare each animal for adoption.

“Animals that are adopted from the Louisa County Animal Shelter are provided medical treatment like spaying or neutering at a reduced cost to the adopter.” said County Administrator Christian Goodwin. “This generous grant from The Petco Foundation supports these additional services for the animals, adopters and our community”

The mission of the Petco Foundation is to create a better world for animals and the people who love and need them. Since 1999, the Petco Foundation has invested more than $250 million in lifesaving animal welfare work and helped more than six million pets find new loving families.
