Research Workshops African American Genealogy

LCHS Genealogy

LCHS will be hosting multiple genealogy workshops this summer focusing on challenges involved in researching African-American family roots, like “the brick wall” of 1870. Our former director, Elaine Taylor, will focus on what records and resources are available for breaking through that barrier using Louisa County records as examples. There is no charge for these workshops but registration is appreciated. If you would like to register for free, please all 540 967-5975 Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. If you would like to make a donation to support the continuation of our research programs, you can register through Eventbrite or leave a donation the day of the program. Seating is limited. Check https://louisahistory.org/calendar for event dates. Workshops are held at the Sargeant Museum of Louisa County History.
