Introduction to Karate & Self-Defense

We welcome individuals from all walks of life to join our Introduction to Karate and Self-Defense and Traditional Okinawan Karate and Self-Defense. Students will learn a well-developed and organized style of Okinawan Karate: Shinki-Ryu (translation “Humble Spirit Way") in a fun, encouraging, motivating, and non-competitive atmosphere. Lead instructor, Christopher “Chief” Spare, 6th Degree/Kyoshi, and his instructors, train students in the techniques of this unique ancient Martial Art that can be applied to real world situations today, while building self-confidence, self-discipline, physical strength and fitness, and overall mental toughness. Chris served honorably in the US Marine Corps, and has 30 years of law enforcement experience. In this Introduction to Karate and Self-Defense program, you will learn the basic themes of traditional Karate. Its mental and moral aspects target the overall improvement of the individual. This is facilitated by the discipline and persistent effort required in training. There will be no class on January 17th and February 21st.
