Louisa County’s proactive response to the COVID-19 outbreak maintains citizen services in a limited staffing environment and County offices remain open to the public at this time.

Before visiting a Louisa County facility, citizens are encouraged to check online or call to see if their needs can be addressed remotely.  A list of department specific information is provided below to assist citizens during this period. Public Safety Functions

Louisa County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO)

LCSO will continue to operate as normal. The public is encouraged to limit engagement to emergencies only during this period.

Louisa County Fire and EMS

The department will continue to operate as normal.  The public is encouraged to limit engagement to emergencies only during this period.

General Government / Other Functions

Voter Registration (Registrar’s Office)

The Registrar’s office will operate as normal, however, in person office visits may be restricted to one person at a time.

 Community Development:

The department will operate as normal, with limited staffing.  All request for permits or inspections should be made by telephone or email. 

Treasurer’s Office

The Treasurer’s Office will operate as normal, with limited staffing. 

Commissioner of the Revenue’s Office

The Commissioner’s Office will operate as normal, with limited staffing. 

Human Services

The Department of Human Services will operate as normal (with limited staffing) and the building will have limited access for the public. Please call before coming to the office.

General Services

The Department of General Services will operate as normal, with limited staffing

  • Refuse and Recycling:  Refuse and Recycling Centers and the Landfill will continue normal operation. Please minimize contact with staff.
  • Animal Shelter: The Animal Shelter building is closed to the public.

County Administration will continue to function as normal with limited staff.

Environmental Health and Vital Records (Thomas Jefferson Health District)

Environmental Health and Vital Records will continue to function as normal with limited staff

Circuit / General District / Juvenile and Domestic Relations Courts

Minimal court services are operating.  Please contact the appropriate court using the information below to obtain more information.
