Louisa County’s proactive response to the COVID-19 outbreak maintains citizen services in a limited staffing environment and County offices remain open to the public at this time.
Before visiting a Louisa County facility, citizens are encouraged to check online or call to see if their needs can be addressed remotely. A list of department specific information is provided below to assist citizens during this period. For general telephone questions, please call (540) 967-0401.
Public Safety Functions
Louisa County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO)
LCSO will continue to operate as normal. The public is encouraged to limit engagement to emergencies only during this period.

Louisa County Fire and EMS

General Government / Other Functions
Voter Registration (Registrar’s Office)
The Registrar’s office will operate as normal, however, in person office visits may be restricted to one person at a time.

- Town of Louisa Election (Town Residents Only) - Vote at Home (COVID-19 option) May 2020 Elections
- Choose reason "2A My disability or illness" for Absentee voting.
- Choose the absentee option as soon as possible.
- Ballots must be returned by Election Day.

Community Development:
The department will operate as normal, with limited staffing. All request for permits or inspections should be made by telephone or email.

- Building inspections will continue as required by the Code of Virginia and applications will be processed as long as the office remains open.
- Permits processing will continue. The public is encouraged to call with questions prior to drop off. Only COMPLETED applications will be accepted in person.
Treasurer’s Office
The Treasurer’s Office will operate as normal, with limited staffing.
