Join the Louisa County Historical Society for their 53rd Annual Meeting and Lecture at the Louisa Arts Center followed by a light reception at the Sargeant Museum of Louisa County History. Dr. Brian Daugherity, Associate Professor of History at Virginia Commonwealth University, will give a lecture on his book Keep On Keeping On: The NAACP and the Implementation of Brown v. Board of Education in Virginia, which tells the story of how Brown v. Board of Education was implemented in Virginia. It examines the official reaction to Brown and the massive resistance movement and focuses on the overlooked strategies and efforts of the proponents of school desegregation. The story highlights the role of the Virginia State Conference of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.
