Learn the basics of firearm safety, law, and familiarization of handguns and ammunition, how to handle a weapon safely, and laws regarding use of firearms in self-defense. A one day training, the classroom portion of this class is held at the Louisa County Sheriff’s Department and the firing portion will be at the Sheriff’s Department Firing Range. This course is one of the steps necessary to qualify for a concealed weapon’s permit. Participants must pass the classroom portion and must provide their own handgun and ammunition for the Firing Range portion of this course; men and women will participate together. DO NOT bring your gun in with you for the classroom portion of this course; keep it locked in your vehicle. Firearm Safety is available to anyone age 21 or older. Firearm Safety is instructed by members of the Louisa County Sheriff’s Department.
Registration deadline is 5 PM the Thursday before the Saturday class or when maximum of 10 participants have registered.
