Louisa County Chamber of Commerce
Promoting business, strengthening economic and community development, and serving as a catalyst for improving the overall quality of life in the Louisa community and region.
The Louisa County Chamber of Commerce was organized November 2, 1927 to promote business and industry in the county. Today, the Chamber is dedicated to helping make the county a better place for all its citizens. It is organized to achieve the objectives of preserving the free enterprise system of buiness by creating a better understanding and appreciation of the importance of business and a concern for their problems, being a voice of business to government at the local, regional, state and federal levels on all political and legislative issues, and developing strategies and programs that contribute to Louisa County’s economic development.
It is the Chamber’s goal to foster cooperation with public and private development organizations, to promote a cooperative partnership between business and education, and support the continuing expansion of Louisa County’s leadership role among rural communities.
Over the years, the Chamber has undertaken such projects as publishing informational brochures and county maps, organizing Christmas parades, sponsoring golf tournaments and other activities. The Chamber has also sponsored special sale days in the past including George Washington’s birthday, March Court and May Sale Days. The Chamber hosts an annual Membership Meeting and Picnic each June for members, guests and co-sponsors, and After Hours events sponsored by Chamber members are held several times throughout the year at different locations. The Chamber annually honors a member of the business community during its Business Person of the Year awards dinner.
As the business climate changes in Central Virginia, the Chamber will rise to meet the changing demands of today’s business needs. The Chamber publishes an annual Directory, which is distributed at no cost in an effort to highlight Chamber members and the services they offer the community, as well as provide other pertinent information about county government, various boards, agencies, services and other key information to locals, newcomers, existing business and prospective businesses.
A Weekly Chamber e-Newsletter is sent to all members via e-mail each week. The newsletter provides members an opportunity to share information about their business with other Chamber members including, but not limited to awards and honors, promotions, new hires, special events, sales, job openings or anything they want to share with fellow Chamber members. The newsletter is also a tool to disseminate other information of interest to the business community.
