Hunter Education

The Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries offers a hunter education course that is only 8 hours of classroom instruction. This course requires students to complete some self-study online before the class. All students must submit the self-study chapter review exercise to the classroom instructor at the beginning of the class. Hunter education is required for all youth ages 12 through 15 and all first-time hunters in order to obtain a hunting license. Children under 15 must be accompanied to this class by an adult. Participants must pass test in order to receive certification. Participants MUST go online http://www.dgif.virginia.gov/hunting/education/ take the self-study portion and print out the review exercise and register for the classroom portion that is held at the Betty Queen Center. There is also a FULL ONLINE course available with no classroom requirement on the DGIF website.
