Hannah Buckley is Virginian musician, songwriter, and poet who is regionally recognized for her powerfully dynamic vocals, transcendent melodies, unique arrangements and a willingness to connect intimately with her audience. In December of 2017, Hannah self-released her second album entitled Provinces, a luminous, poetic exploration into the self that seeks to locate those zones within us that wish to be free, and declare them so. This collection of songs and her music to date is rooted in Hannah's contemplations about love, loss and the pursuit of self-understanding, but is also informed by a wide array of work—from the speculative fiction of Margaret Atwood to the feminist essays of Adrienne Rich to Sylvia Plath’s prose and poetry and more recently the investigative poetry of C.D Wright. Hannah's discursive writing style lends itself do a number of genres, including jazz, folk-rock, and modern folk. She can be found performing her music, as well as a diverse repertoire of covers throughout Virginia and North Carolina.
