JABA (the Jefferson Area Board for Aging) provides services for seniors and their families, such as, urgently needed health care and nutrition programs, as well as intergenerational programs, that promote healthy aging in Central Virginia.

JABA operates an Adult Care Center in Louisa at the Betty J Queen Multiuse Center. They offer a fun, caring, safe environment for any adult who needs assistance with daily health or personal care activities. Guided by the specific needs of a personalized care plan, the certified staff, in a fully licensed facility enables your loved one to remain at home longer.

JABA's Betty J Queen Intergenerational Center is open for meals, activities, field trips and socializing on Tuesdays through Thursdays from 9:00 AM to 2:00 with a hot meal served for lunch on the days the center is open. In addition, home delivered meals and food bags are distributed out of the center to elders in the area. JABA's Betty J Queen Intergenerational Center is staffed with a nurse, center manager, activity assistant, and two geriatric case managers.

JABA's geriatric case managers can provide an assessment for seniors followed by assistance in locating resources from JABA or the community-at-large. These services assist in enabling clients to live independently for as long as possible. Examples of services include: the provision of home delivered meals, supplying Ensure, access to medical equipment, referrals to home health-care providers, and friendly visitors. The case managers visit the community centers and make home visits, in addition to seeing clients at their offices.

The nurse, working closely with the clients, caregivers and primary physicians, provides screenings, monitoring ongoing health conditions, prescription assistance and counseling, treatment for minor injuries and illnesses, and other services. Please call the Betty J Queen Intergenerational Center for clinic hours.

JABA provides intergenerational volunteer opportunities, both at the center and in the community at large. JABA's Volunteer program improves lives, strengthens the community, and fosters civic engagement. Please contact JABA's Volunteer Services for current opportunities that match your skills, interests and level of commitment. JABA partners with Volunteers of Louisa.
