|
The Council is a private non profit organization comprised of representatives from the 28 plus local and regional human services and faith based organizations serving residents in Louisa County. It was recognized by the IRS as a non profit 501(c)3 organization in August 1994. The member representatives meet monthly on the second Thursday to share and exchange information, discuss gaps in community services and hear speakers on topics related to the need for services. Anyone who shares the mission of the organization is welcome to attend. The Resource Council manages and operates three major programs: Medical Outreach Services , Louisa’s Community Cupboard, and a Dental Clinic which began operations in July 2002. The Board of DirectorsUntil September 2001, the full council acted on matters pertaining to the programs operated and managed by the Resource Council. In September, the membership voted to amend the By-laws to specify the number of Board Members who would be elected each year by the full council members. The Board of Directors would be empowered to conduct the business of the Resource Council and to make decisions regarding the management of its programs.
The Volunteers of Louisa was formed by the Resource Council and is now an independent entity governed by its own Board of Directors. |
