Located on the first floor of the Louisa County Office Building, the Community Development staff assists throughout the permit application process, subdivision approval process, and the scheduling of inspections. The Planning Division helps to create and maintain the County’s Comprehensive Plan and associated long range policies; reviews and approves subdivisions, site plans, erosion and sediment control plans, and variance applications in compliance with the Louisa County Zoning and Subdivision Ordinances and other regulations contained within the Code of Virginia. The Division also provides GIS support for the department and other County agencies. Code enforcement activities include zoning setbacks; erosion & sediment measures; litter, debris, and other code complaints; and monitoring biosolid activities. BUILDING INSPECTIONS DIVISION The Building Inspections Division protects the health, safety and welfare of the general public by assuring that all buildings, structures and related equipment are constructed and installed in compliance with the standards contained within the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code (USBC). CODE AND EROSION & SEDIMENT (E&S) ENFORCEMENT DIVISION The Code Enforcement Division of Community Development is devoted to providing its citizens with a healthy, safe, and enjoyable county in which to live and work. It is the responsibility of the code enforcement division to enforce the Louisa County Zoning and Subdivision Ordinance and other regulations contained within the County Code. Code Enforcement activities include zoning setbacks; erosion and sediment control inspections, litter/debris, enforcement of the Inoperable Vehicle Ordinance and other code complaints. Zoning Enforcement is also responsible for monitoring biosolid activities within the County. STAFF, COMMITTEES AND BOARDS The Community Development Center is staffed with professionals dedicated to ensuring correct planning, zoning and building practices are enforced in Louisa County. The Planning Commission and Boards review and approve various submissions. |
