Medicaid and FAMIS

Medicaid is a program that provides full or limited medical coverage for eligible individuals.

Medicaid is a program that provides health coverage to some low-income Virginia residents. Medicaid covers families with children and pregnant women, medically needy individuals, the elderly, and people with disabilities, if state and federal guidelines are met. Legal residents who are not U.S. citizens may be eligible for Medicaid. Non-citizens who do not have immigration documents cannot enroll in Medicaid.

FAMIS - Family Access to Medical Insurance Security - is Virginia's health insurance program for children in working families.

FAMIS is Virginia's program that helps families provide health insurance to their children. Health insurance is important to make sure that kids are able to get all the help they need to grow up healthy. FAMIS stands for Family Access to Medical Insurance Security.
