Hunter Education

Virginia has implemented a new, shorter hunter education course that is only 8 hours of classroom instruction. This course requires students to complete some self-study online before the class. All students must submit the self study chapter review exercise to the classroom instructor at the beginning of the class. Hunter education is required for all 12 - 15 year olds and first-time hunters in order to obtain a hunting license. All children under 15 must be accompanied to this class by an adult. Participants must pass the test which includes both classroom and self-study material in order to receive certification card. Class is FREE, however class size is limited to 40, so register early! Participants MUST go online http://www.dgif.virginia.gov/hunting/education/ take the self study portion and print out the review exercise and register for the classroom portion that will be held at the Betty Queen Center. There is also a FULL-ONLINE course available with no classroom requirement on the Game and Inland Fisheries website.
